Utah State University Using PlumX To Help Their Researchers

image   We are happy to tell you that we’ve been working with Utah State University (USU) and they have joined the growing list of PlumX customers.

The librarians at the university set up a pilot program of researchers to experiment with different types of metrics to see the how they portray different individuals and their affiliated groups. In the pilot, they established seven different colleges so they can view metrics by college.  These are:

  • College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences
  • College of Engineering
  • College of Humanities and Social Sciences
  • College of Science
  • Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services
  • Jon M. Huntsman School of Business
  • S.J. & Jessie E. Quinney College of Natural Resources

You can see this in the screenshot below.

Furthermore, in the pilot group of researchers the librarians selected, the College of Science has five researchers.  So, USU can see metrics for the entire College of Science, and each of these five individuals.  To make things even more interesting, the College of Science breaks down further into:

  • Physics and
  • Biology

You can see this below.

Therefore, in this example, you can evaluate research and its impact for the entire University, the College of Science, the Biology department, the Physics department, each of the five individual researchers, and all of their research artifacts, including (but not limited to) articles, presentations, papers, videos and posters.

It is easy to see that with PlumX, you can evaluate research output and its impact by groups and individuals in countless ways; you are only limited by your imagination.

Stay tuned as the fall progresses we have a lot of exciting new things coming from Plum Analytics.
